Interporto Bologna SpA has obtained ISO 14001 certification by voluntarily acquiring a tool to improve the management of the environmental variable within the company that takes into account the legislative provisions and information about the more significant effects on the environment.
In response to the need expressed by parts of society for the sustainable development of economic activities, the company intends to make its own contribution by improving its protection of human, natural and environmental resources with the specific aim to respect the principles stated below.
Commit the ongoing prevention pollution and reduction in the use of natural resources for carrying out its economic activities;
Maintain throughout time the conformity of its activities and environmental aspects to the provisions of law, standards and regulations on a regional, national and international level;
Cooperate with external agencies such as Public Administrations or partners in international projects to plan and carry out activities to improve environmental conditions directly and indirectly and prevent pollution;
Pursue the ongoing improvement of environmental performance by establishing goals and programs, taking into account the characteristics of the organization's internal and external collaborators, clients, the expectations of society, the evolution of legislation, technical opportunities and the economic context;
Develop and disseminate knowledge about environmental protection among all employees, collaborators and suppliers in a way that makes them aware of the importance of managing these factors as an integral part of their activities;
Prevent accidents by using and/or building plants and buildings according to safety standards and the law and also by developing and maintaining plans and procedures for confronting possible emergencies in collaboration with the appropriate service agencies, authorities and the local community;
Foster openness and dialogue with employees, internal and external collaborators of the organization, clients, suppliers of goods and services, institutional entities and the public with the aim to acquire information, news stories, statistics, suggestions to improve the system;
Periodically revise the Environmental Policy to keep it updated and consistent with the laws in force and to make sure it is appropriate to the nature, dimensions, environmental aspects and impacts of its activities.
The Policy is displayed for public perusal in places inside the company or related to the company; it is available to whoever requests it and it is communicated to everyone who works for the organization or on behalf of the organization.
The strategy followed over the years by the executives of Interporto Bologna has always been based on a value system informed by the deep conviction that companies have a duty to be accountable in a transparent way for their actions and the effects of those actions on society and the environment when pursuing their corporate mission.
Among the projects and activities for applying its environmental policy, the use of alternative sources of energy is surely one of the most significant commitments the company has made. In fact it has installed a photovoltaic system, which makes it pioneer among Italian freight village infrastructure..
